Prevent costly water damage with professional roof sealing from Clean Slate RV Repair in Carver, MA.
Leaky seams, cracked caulk, or that drip that's basically auditioning for a rain dance on your ceiling? We specialize in roof fixes β no drama, just results. Sagging, sad old lap sealant? We rip it out, slap on fresh non-sag stuff that sticks like glue and doesn't droop.
Water damage is the #1 enemy of RVs, and most leaks start at the roof. Sealant around vents, antennas, air conditioners, and roof edges deteriorates over time β cracking, shrinking, and pulling away from surfaces. Once water gets in, it can cause thousands of dollars in structural damage before you even notice.
Membrane ripped? Patched with TPO or EPDM, heat-welded so tight it laughs at storms. Loose screws? Torqued down β because nobody wants a skylight in their soup. Flashings, vents, every poke-through? Resealed. We pressure-test it all β no leaks, no surprises. Your rig? Dry, happy, and ready to roll.

Catching roof issues early saves thousands in water damage repair. Here are the warning signs we see most often:
Visible cracks in roof sealant: Lap sealant naturally degrades from UV exposure and temperature cycling. Cracks allow water to seep under the membrane and into the roof structure.
Water stains on the ceiling: Brown or yellowish stains inside your RV are a clear sign that water is getting through the roof. The leak source may be several feet away from where the stain appears.
Soft or spongy spots on the roof: When you walk on the roof and feel soft spots, the underlying wood structure has already absorbed moisture and begun to deteriorate.
Musty odors inside: Persistent musty smells indicate hidden moisture and potential mold growth β often from a slow roof leak that's been going undetected.
Lifted or peeling sealant: If you can see sealant pulling away from vents, A/C units, or roof edges, it's time for maintenance before water finds its way in.

We don't just slap new sealant over old β that's a temporary fix that fails quickly. Our process is thorough:
First, we remove all old, degraded sealant from every seam, vent, antenna, A/C unit, and roof edge. We clean and prep all surfaces to ensure proper adhesion.
We apply fresh, UV-resistant lap sealant (self-leveling for horizontal seams, non-sag for vertical applications) that's compatible with your specific roof type β EPDM, TPO, or fiberglass.
For damaged membrane sections, we patch with matching material β TPO or EPDM β using heat welding or adhesive bonding for a watertight seal that lasts.
Every fastener gets checked and torqued. Every poke-through gets resealed. We finish with a visual and hands-on inspection of the entire roof surface.

We work on all common RV roof types:
EPDM rubber roofs: The most common type, found on most travel trailers and fifth wheels. Requires specific sealant and cleaning products β we use only EPDM-compatible materials.
TPO (Thermoplastic Polyolefin) roofs: Found on many newer RVs. More durable than EPDM but still requires regular sealant maintenance around penetrations.
Fiberglass roofs: Common on motorhomes and higher-end RVs. Less maintenance-intensive but the seams and edges still need periodic resealing.
Aluminum roofs: Found on some older RVs and Airstreams. We seal seams and fastener points using appropriate sealants for metal-to-metal and metal-to-rubber transitions.

We recommend annual roof inspections and resealing as part of your RV maintenance routine. It's one of the most cost-effective things you can do to protect your investment.
New England weather is especially tough on RV roofs β freeze-thaw cycles, snow load, ice dams, and intense summer sun all accelerate sealant degradation. An annual inspection catches issues before they become expensive interior repairs.
Our annual maintenance includes full sealant inspection, selective removal and reapplication where needed, fastener checks, and a detailed condition report so you know exactly where your roof stands.

Our labor rate is $150/hour. A one-time $75 service call fee applies on your first visit only β that includes a full roof inspection. From there, we provide an upfront estimate based on the size of your RV, the condition of existing sealant, and the scope of work needed.
